La Joya is a silver-copper-gold project on the western margin of the Mesa Central, roughly seventy-five kilometres southeast of Durango city and about twenty-five kilometres from the San Martín carbonate replacement mine. A 2013 preliminary economic assessment set out an open-pit bulk-tonnage case over the near-surface mineralization. More recent work has been directed at deeper carbonate replacement targets of the style that hosts the district’s producing mines, a materially different and higher-grade proposition than the surface deposit.
